2013 Lexus GS-350 F-Sport…Simply Irresistible!
The Lexus brand has long been the standard of luxury. The all-new, redesigned and tricked out GS350 had jaws dropping at every turn during my review week. The engineers must have been given the proverbial “green light” to think outside the box with reconfiguring of the sporty sedan.
Walking up to the GS350 F-Sport, the first thing that catches the eye was the trapezoid front chrome grill. Slickly embedded, the grill let’s onlookers know that power is just behind that devilish grin. Cloaked in the armor of a warrior, from tip to stern the F-Sport package gives the sedan a futuristic look. Razor sharp lines frame the front fascia unleashing a wicked façade. The lower grille inserts add the perfect accent to this sexy beast. The subtle slope of the hood, side profile and the rear fascia the GS350 frame the new sedan like a dream. The cat-like Bi-Xenon Headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lamps and Dynamic Auto Leveling illuminate your every move as it surveys the upcoming terrain. Heading down roads after dark, the GS350 seemed to scan my surroundings offering a safe driving experience. Managed by a 4-Wheel Power-Assisted Discs, with 4-Channel Anti-Lock Braking System, braking was rather smooth.
Revving just under the hood is a 3.5 Liter V6 engine with Direct Injection and Port Fuel Injection that puts out 306 horsepower and 277 lbs-ft of torque. Like a stallion awaiting its first gallop, the power of the F-Sport package of the GS350 is ridiculous. The mid-sized sedan packs a punch on the road. Take offs and merging on to the white-knuckle rendering 405 bring about a head snap and a Cheshire cat grin…and I loved ever minute of it! Dipping and dodging on the 19-inch Split Five-Spoke Alloy wheels with the Dark Graphite finish was effortless with the Variable Gear-Ratio Steering and Sport S + Drive Mode. Quick downgrades allowed for a seamless ride via the 6-Speed Sequential Electronically Controlled Transmission and F-Sport-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension.
The technology and style of the new GS350 really swings for the fences. One of the most noticeable upgrades is the larger-than-life 12.3 inch High Resolution split screen multi-media display. Vibrant icons and Apps Suite navigated via the ergonomic mouse create a geek’s technological Shangri-La. The Lexus standard Mark Levinson Premium Sound System is packed with 17-speaker, 835-watts with a 7.1 Channel Architecture, Digital Amplifier and GreenEdge Speaker Technology, producing crystal clear sand concert ound quality. The Lexus Enform feature w/Destination and eDestination return and round out the Navigation Package with NavWeather, NavTraffic, Sports and Stocks.
The interior of the GS-350 was like sitting in the lap of luxury. The driver’s seat cradled me with the Power Side Bolsters and “16-way” choices of comfort and cooled me with the ventilated option.
